In her unrelenting effort to ensure that a legal frame work to protect the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities gain Presidential assent, the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, CCD, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Ministry of Justice to seek collaboration in this quest.
The Executive Director of the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, David Anyaele and his team, visited the Attorney General of the Federation,  in Abuja, to seek his buy-in on the Disability bill that is presently awaiting presidential assent following its harmonization by the two chambers of the National Assembly.
The visit was an opportunity for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Mallam Abubakar Malami, to reassure  persons with disabilities of the commitment of the present administration towards their welfare.
According to Mallam Abubakar, the present administration has always made the welfare of persons with disabilities top on its agenda by appointing Senior Special Adviser, SSA,  to the President on disability matters, hence, he expressed hope that the President will assent to the bill.
He also promised that the Federal Ministry of Justice will colloborate with CCD and the SSA to the President on Disability Matters, to ensure that justice is done to the disability bill. In his words “I want to register my sincere appreciation and commitment of the Federal Ministry of Justice to work with Centre for Citizens with Disabilities and SSA to the President on Disability Matters in terms of having at the end of the day a bill that will stand the test of time in terms of provision for the welfare of persons with disabilities”
